In just a couplet, a poet can create an entire world of feeling, capturing themes of love, longing, separation, and reunion with remarkable grace. While Ghazals enjoyed immense popularity through the seventies and early eighties, dedicated evenings celebrating this art form have become increasingly rare in recent decades.
With a vision to revive and nurture India’s cultural heritage through music and poetry, the Ghazal festival Humrahi has been conceived — bringing together some of the finest exponents of the genre alongside promising young and emerging talent, creating an evening that honours tradition while inspiring a new generation of listeners.
