The Good Part
The movie “Amar Singh Chamkila,” just like its title, mainly focuses on Diljit. He takes on the entire film with a great balance of acting and singing. Diljit does both exceptionally well in the movie. While he’s already known for his singing skills, in this film, you get to see a more sensitive side of the actor.
Parineeti Chopra truly shines in portraying Amarjot Kaur. Her singing skills also heighten alongside Diljit effortlessly, showcasing the actor’s dedication. Yet, Parineeti’s dialogue presence is minimal, mainly seen during singing rehearsals and on-stage performances.
The movie features a fantastic group of actors who bring their roles to life so convincingly, you might think you’re watching a real-life documentary. Parineeti Chopra may have less time on screen compared to Diljit, but she portrays Chamkila’s wife, Amarjot Kaur, with skill and authenticity. The film’s editing is sharp, the visuals are captivating, and the animated sequences during the songs add an extra layer of charm.
The Bad One
When looking at the downsides of the movie, there are some parts where Chamkila’s straightforwardness, like when he says, “I only know this, I have only seen this,” in response to people criticizing his songs as indecent and labeling him as a disgrace to society and religion, might seem misleading.
Overall, the movie is worth the watch. The entire cast does an incredible job throughout the film.
